For 11 Years

So, the other day when I was digging through old stuffs in my messy room, I ran into this old, blue sketchbook. It has my artworks back from 11 years ago in it!! Then I just started to gather all of my old sketchbook to reminisce, and it ended up with this...summary.

Actually, I started drawing way earlier than 2002, but I can't find the traces from back there anymore.

Like most people do, I started with copying from my favorite anime or manga, or anything I could find on a magazine. I copy and copy and copy and it was the joy of my life. Started from 2004, I learned about human-head proportion and tried to apply what I read in a book, but I had a hard time enjoying that kind of drawing, so I threw it away before long. Then in 2006, I was taking manga classes under my beloved tutor, Ibu Ida. She is the one that helped me to build a stronger foundation for my artworks and I stopped copying. Since then, I just kind of developed my own kind of artwork. But even now I still can't fully apply what Ibu Ida had taught me years ago, especially in perspectives. Since I stopped taking those classes, I continued to draw and draw and draw and it was the joy of my life. Sometimes I payed Ibu Ida a visit, too, and asked for opinions. There are times when I feel like I'm improving in a stupidly slow pace or maybe not improving at all. But I still draw and draw and draw because it's the joy of my life. Without realizing, some things--like coloring, human proportion, drapery, and inking--got better by itself. Hehe

Still got a long way to go, eh?
